Call Center Report: November 23-December 1
A semi-regular compendium of call centers that are opening, closing, and making the news around the world.
- Franklin, North Carolina-based tax preparation software company Drake Software is opening a call center in Dillsboro, North Carolina. Drake has one center in Franklin for tech support. The new center will employ about 20.

- Dublin, Ireland outsourcer Influent is buying up call centers from Apac Customer Services, which is getting out of the telemarketing business. Influent bought a 144-seat center in Quincy, Illinois in October and an Ottumwa, Iowa center that will employ 50, this month.

- Edinburgh, Scotland-based bank HBOS is closing their Greater Manchester Insure call center. 256 jobs will be lost.

- Bangalore-based outsourcer 24/7 Customer is opening a center in Hyderabad, India with 800 employees. 24/7 Customer has five other centers in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

- It's Your Group, a UK and India call center outsourcer has closed a 70 person center in Lowestoft and another in Leeds in the UK.

- Optus, the Australian division of the Singapore-based phone company Singtel will cut 800 call center jobs in Australia and replace them with positions in Mumbai, India.

- Teltech Holdings, which opened a call center in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada in September will be adding 75 new jobs. The center opened with 100 employees, and expects to reach a peak of 360.
