  • Belfast, Ireland's Northern Ireland Water Service will open a call center with the help of outsourcer Xansa, creating 180 jobs.

  • 1,000 Chatsworth, California agents in a Washington Mutual call center will lose their jobs soon. They will be replaced by Texans and Costa Ricans.

  • Guetersloh, Germany-based outsourcer Arvato Systems is laying off 175 Liverpool, England call center workers. The center serves Microsoft and Vodaphone customer calls.

  • German conglomerate Siemens has opened a 450 seat English language call center in the Philippines.

  • British outsourcer Vertex will not be firing call center workers in the UK and replacing them in India as reported last week. At least not yet. 170 jobs in Dingwall and 80 jobs in Edinburgh are safe for now.
