Call Center Report: Mar. 8-20

- United Bulgarian Bank opened a new bilingual (Bulgarian and English) call center for its account holders.

- Outsourcer Advanced Call Center Technology is hiring 180 full time night agents at its new Johnson City, Tennessee center.

- Verizon Wireless will be hiring 150 new agents at its Columbia, South Carolina call center. The center employs 1,400.

- Outsourcer Ardington Fulfilment will be hiring 50 agents for its Cleator Moor, Cumbria (UK) call center.

- British Airways is closing a Belfast, Northern Ireland call center and "all of its 17 UK high street travel shops" because Internet bookings have made them unnecessary.

- Fort Lauderdale-based outsourcer PRC is hiring 175 workers in Tampa.

- SHPS, an outsourcer specializing in health care, has hired 200 new agents for its Lousiville, Kentucky call center after getting a customer service contract with Solon, Ohio-based MemberHealth.

- Canadian outsourcer SNC-Lavalin ProFac opened a call center in Campbellton, New Brunswick, with 100 employees. The outsourcer will be serving itself at this center.

- Dell will be adding 400 employees to its 1,000-employee Oklahoma City call center, which opened in late 2004, and expanded in late 2005.
