  • North Carolina outsourcer Global Contact Services is opening a 200-person call center in Kingsville, Texas to handle insurance calls.

  • Denver's Sato-Travel is closing its 27-person call center in Butte, Montana. The center handled travel arrangements for government and military clients.

  • Denver-based phone company Qwest is closing its 175-person call center in Portland, Oregon.

  • Country Insurance and Financial Services is opening a 30-person call center in Salem, Oregon. The company's representatives said the goal was to spread its centers out to protect against natural disasters.

  • EchoStar Dish Network is opening a 600-person call center in Alvin, Texas, its third in Texas and eleventh in America. The new center will be in a former Wal-Mart building.
