Call Center Report: September 18-25
The weekly call center report is back. This week: news from the Philippines, Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, and more.
- Verizon Wireless is building a call center in Huntsville, Alabama with the cooperation of Vodafone Group. The 1,300-agent call center will open next year.

- Infinity Resources, which markets CD's and DVD's, is opening a call center in Ottawa, Illinois with 125 agents.

- Little Rock, Arkansas-based wireless phone company Alltel opened a 350-agent bilingual call center in El Paso, Texas recently. The firm may be hiring 100 more agents soon.

- Omaha, Nebraska-based West Corp. is hiring 500 agents for its Universal City, Texas (San Antonio) call center. West's nearby San Antonio center employs 2,600 agents.

- InfoCision Management Corp. is hiring agents to fill 48 seats in the Christian division of its expanding Riverside, Ohio (Dayton) call center. The Christian division currently has 20 seats.

- Camping World, a recreational vehicle retailer, moved its call center to Denver, Colorado to save money a year and a half ago. Now it's moving back to its previous location in the company headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky. With the relocation, the center will add 40 agents.

- The Philadelphia-area outsourcer ICT Group is opening its third call center in the Philippines. With the new center, ICT Group has 2,800 seats in the Philippines, supporting some 30 clients worldwide.

- Outsourcer The Results Companies of Florida is hiring 125 workers for a Patrick County, Virginia call center. The new center, which will handle some insurance calls, will train as many as 80 employees to be licensed insurance agents.
