Teleperformance USA Buys AOL Call Center By Michelle Buffardi
The AP reports that Teleperformance USA is buying AOL's 400-employee call center in Ogden, Utah and hopes it can grow it. Senior Teleperformance USA officials say that everything looks positive, and are aiming at a Dec. 16th takeover. AOL, formerly known as American Online, disclosed the sale Wednesday but did not identify the buyer. Separately, AOL is laying off 1,300 people at call centers in Arizona and New Mexico. Dominic Dato, Teleperformance USA's CEO, told the AP that his company will leverage the Ogden facility to not only serve AOL subscribing members, but other clients as well, in order to facilitate growth. The Ogden center will be the company's 23rd call center in the United States. Teleperformance USA is a subsidiary of SR Teleperformance, based in Paris and has been in Utah since 1993, with call centers in Clearfield, Salt Lake City and Lindon. |
